A visitor braves the spinning wheel with expert advices
- Sunday 14th Sept 2008: Heritage Open Days (http://www.heritageopendays.org/):
The Museum will be open in association with Heritage Open days (run by English
Heritage and The Civic Trust) and admission will be FREE to all! There will
also be new quizes on exhibitions to challenge adults and children.
October:
- Sunday October 12th: The Big Draw Work with local artist Sam Dalby
to create a giant group drawing and one of your very own! This annual event
is promoted nationally by The
Campaign for Drawingk and hundreds of museums and galleries take part
each year. Sam has chosen the theme of 'People and Places' and hopes to create
a huge scene of local characters and buildings created with the help of visitors.
Sam is a portrait artist who works mainly in oil paint and charcoal, and has
drawn and painted portraits of many local people. There will be an opportunity
to try out a variety of materials and improve figure drawing skills as well
as contribute to the group picture. Activities for all ages will be available
in 2 sessions 10.30 - 12.30 and 2.00 - 4.00pm. For more details

- Tuesday 21st: Settle Voices (http://www.settlevoices.co.uk/):
2-3pm only Settle's own community choir singing a variety of local and world
songs
- Thursday 23rd: House Detectives: An exciting opportunity to learn
how to research the history of your house using archives on the web or at
the County Record Office. 11am - 12.30 and 1.30 - 4pm. Teas and coffees and
space for lunch provided but bring your own sandwiches or pop to one of the
local cafes. Speakers include Keith Sweetmore (North Yorkshire County Archivist)
and James Innerdale (NCBPT trustee, talking about the history of The Folly).
Tickets for the day cost £8 and are available from the Tourist Information
Centre in Settle or direct from Sue at The Folly on 0797 022 0979.
